Apprenticeships

The Government is keen to invest in Apprenticeship opportunities throughout England - which means that all or part of the cost of training can be covered by government funding.

An Apprenticeship can be undertaken by those beginning their working lives or those already in work who want to learn new skills, or re-skill in another areas.

Available now - Incentive payment to employers to help with the cost of taking on an apprentice

To encourage thousands of small firms that don’t currently hire apprentices to take on a young apprentice 20120120092159-Apple-1500.jpgaged 16 to 24, the Government will offer small to medium sized employers an incentive payment of up to £1,500.

An initial payment of £750 will be made two months after the individual has started their Apprenticeship; the balance will be paid at 12 months, when the Apprenticeship has been completed.

Check your eligibilty:

  • You employ less than 250 staff
  • This is your first apprentice, or
  • You have not had an apprentice for the past 3 years
  • The apprenticeship vacancy is for a minimum of 30 hours a week
  • You are prepared to take on a 16-24 yr old

The grant is available for new apprentices recruited from 1st Feb, the first payments will be made from 1st April. Grants are limited to 40,000 and will be paid out on a first come first served basis.

You can claim the grant for a maximum of 3 new apprentices, provided you take on all 3 at the same time.

Grants are limited so register your interest now!

We were looking for additional office support and taking on two apprentices was seen as both an opportunity to provide jobs with an added qualification, and also a cost effective option. PDM were excellent throughout and managed the whole process for us, from advertising our vacancies to delivering the first training sessions at our office. I would certainly recommend it to any small business and our new recruits are benefiting from Government funding to the tune of around £7,000.
