Plaspro and Company Ltd

Key Benefits

  • Vacancy advertised free on national website
  • PDM shortlisted candidates and arranged interviews
  • Cost efficient way to recruit additional staff
  • Freed up Sales staff to do more selling

Plaspro and Company Ltd is based in Stevenage and supply a wide range of plastic substrates for the Printing and Packaging Industries.

As a rapidly expanding business they were looking to increase their staff and decided to take on an apprentice.

PDM worked with Plaspro to design the job description and advertise the Business Administration Apprenticeship. After shortlisting and interviewing candidates, Plaspro appointed Maya Datu to the role of Office Administrator.

Office Manager Hayley Collins said, “The process for advertising and recruiting an apprentice was very20110914050312-Maya-and-Hayley-at-Plaspro.jpg easy and not at all time consuming as PDM did most of the work. We were looking for someone who was friendly with a good hands on approach, and good English and Maths skills. We were impressed by Maya and since she has started her Apprenticeship we have found her to be excellent, she has exceeded all expectations and is a fast learner.”

Maya was previously working part time in a fast food shop before applying to Plaspro. She says, “I think an Apprenticeship is definitely the right way to go, it is far more productive than having to go to college as I gain work experience, qualifications and am earning at the same time. I’m really enjoying it, I have learnt quite a lot so far.”

Maya’s training is mainly on the job with PDM providing one to one tuition, and training costs

PDM helped Plaspro to appoint the right person for the job and secured government funding to cover the cost of Maya’s training.

Hayley confirms, “An Apprenticeship is a great way to introduce a person with little or no experience to the work place, they can be shown a particular way of doing something and you know that will be the way it will be done. From a cash flow point of view it fitted perfectly not having to pay a high salary, and this new role will free up other staff to generate sales. We were more than happy to train someone up and give them a wide range of skills right across the company in return.”

PDM were there to guide Plaspro through the whole process. Hayley concludes, “PDM staff were excellent! Very friendly, professional and approachable. In fact I was so impressed that I signed up to do a Management NVQ for myself!”

The whole process from deciding we need more staff to appointing Maya as our apprentice was seamless and carried out with ease. The quality of the candidates was high and Maya has proved to be a fast learner and shown great confidence in all the tasks she takes on.
