Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship framework is a comprehensive, work based learning model for new entrants to an industry and also for those already in employment, many of whom would benefit from further skills training (often literacy, numeracy and IT skills could be improved). Apprenticeships are fully or co-funded by the Government and so training costs can be substantially reduced.
Apprentices will receive high quality on and off the job training and support. Delivery is generally a combination of on and off the job training, usually requiring 5 – 10 days tutor led training to achieve the Key/Functional Skills and Technical Certificate. Variations on the delivery model can be accommodated e.g. off the job training could be delivered in one 2-week course or as a series of up to five 2-day modules.
