Level 2 BTEC in Security Guarding (Award)

This is core competency training for security guarding which fully meets the approved standard of training required for SIA Licensing purposes. Note that personnel qualifying in Security Guarding are not eligible (without further training) to undertake the duties of a Door Supervisor.

Level 2 BTEC in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) Award

This is core competency training for CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) which fully meets the approved standard of training required for SIA Licensing purposes. Candidates must have access to an operating CCTV control room before booking a place on this course. This course is mandatory if the learner is looking to become SIA licensed within this sector.

Level 2 BTEC in Door Supervision

Core competency training for door supervisors which fully meets the approved standard of training required for SIA Licensing purposes. This is the mandatory award for learners looking to become SIA licence within this sector. It now encompasses the Physical Intervention (PI) element which is a new requirement for Door Supervisors. Those security operatives that already hold the (previous) Door Supervisors SIA Licence will need to up-skill and show they have an accredited award for Physical Intervention before they can relicense and so they should be signposted to our PI course. The PI training element will need to be refreshed every 3 years from point of attainment. Note that personnel qualifying in Door Supervision are also eligible (following a local site induction) to undertake the duties of a Security Guard.

Level 2 Award in Conflict Management 

This qualification is designed for staff whose working environment may require them to deal with verbal abuse at work. The qualification comprises an element of pre-study and an element of practical skills training. This course would be of advantage to anyone operating in a ‘challenging’ customer facing role i.e. Traffic wardens, NHS emergency Staff, Customer Service staff, bus drivers, etc. It could also be delivered as part of a package alongside the Physical Intervention course.

Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Physical Intervention

This qualification is designed for private and in house staff working in security and enforcement roles within the SIA licensable sectors. The qualification comprises an element of disengagement and holding skills and an element of practical skills training. This qualification is mandatory for all Door Supervisors who qualified under the previous specification and is then a mandatory requirement every 3 years going forward. It would also be of advantage in any occupation where staff are customer facing, i.e. traffic wardens, NHS emergency Staff, Customer Service staff, etc.

Level 3 Award for Deliverers of Conflict Management 

Trainers who deliver conflict management training directed towards the qualifications for licensing must hold an SIA endorsed and QCA accredited trainer qualification in the delivery of scenario-based conflict management training. Note that this is a train the trainer course therefore candidates should already be qualified with the Certificate in Conflict Management or equivalent prior to booking a place on this course (if both courses are delivered by us within 12 months a discount may be applied).

Level 3 BTEC Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry Award

This qualification has been developed for people wishing to teach physical intervention skills to students working in the private security industry. This course is a Level 3 award and is acceptable for trainers who deliver the Door Supervisors course under the new delivery specifications. It could also be delivered as part of a package alongside the Conflict Management course. Candidates will be expected to be qualified with the Level 2 Certificate in Physical Intervention or equivalent prior to booking a place on this course. This is a train the trainer course.

Level 3/4 BTEC Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector (PTLLS) Award

This qualification is designed for staff whose working environment requires them to deliver training. The SIA stipulates that those delivering Licensing Security Courses must hold a recognised Teaching Qualification and this course meets the minimum requirement.

Course Duration: – three to five days with an average training day of 7½ hours. There is also an element of home study - Total time on programme is usually 1-3 months. Read more.

Level 2 BTEC Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events (Award)

Spectator Safety will be a high profile area in the light of the London Olympic Games in 2012. Additionally, the Football Licensing Authority has indicated that all spectator safety personnel will require a qualification appropriate to their level of responsibility. This award is designed to provide education and training in the event industry and covers the knowledge and skills required to operate competently in event support.
