Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Periodic Training

Driver CPC is for LGV and PCV drivers who drive professionally throughout the UK. It has been developed as a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59 and is intended to maintain and improve road safety and the knowledge and skills of professional drivers throughout their working life. Introduced in September 2008, all professional drivers are required to undertake 35 hours of training every 5 years – so for a large number of drivers this must be completed by September 2013. NB: Drivers that have not maintained their Driver CPC because they left the industry, and now want to return, must complete 35 hours of periodic training in order to regain their Driver CPC before they can resume working professionally.
