What is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)?
A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is a certificate of vocational education which demonstrates your competency in the work place. NVQs are available to people of all ages, and have no entry requirements. There are eight NVQ levels.
Why NVQs?
- NVQs are work-related, competence based qualifications;
- Reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do a job.
- Are available to anyone at any age or stage of their career.
- Have no entry qualifications and are very flexible.
- NVQs are broken down into units which are achieved through assessment and training.
- Assessment is through on-the-job observation and questioning. When you undertake an NVQ you and your assessor agree a series of action plans to achieve the NVQ.
- Your assessor is hand picked for his/her experience and qualifications in your business sector.
