PDM continue to head in the right direction...
As part of the ongoing commitment to providing high quality services PDM have recently been working with SHM, a consultancy to conduct a business review.  This work was endorsed and funded by LSC South West to assist PDM continue to meet the needs of employers in the region – In summary SHM concluded that PDM is a well run company with great strengths.  As part of the review SHM interviewed some of our customers and the response was generally excellent – Here’s what they thought about PDM…

What is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)?

A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is a certificate of vocational education which demonstrates your competency in the work place. NVQs are available to people of all ages, and have no entry requirements. There are eight NVQ levels.

Why NVQs?

  • NVQs are work-related, competence based qualifications;
  • Reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do a job.
  • Are available to anyone at any age or stage of their career.
  • Have no entry qualifications and are very flexible.
  • NVQs are broken down into units which are achieved through assessment and training.
  • Assessment is through on-the-job observation and questioning. When you undertake an NVQ you and your assessor agree a series of action plans to achieve the NVQ.
  • Your assessor is hand picked for his/her experience and qualifications in your business sector.

Frequently Asked Questions:

 
  • How long will a course take?
    •   That's up to the candidate. Most people need between three to nine months to complete their course, depending on how quickly they want to achieve and the level of qualification they choose.

     
  • Is it distance learning?
    •   No, it is work-based learning. Candidates are fully supported by PDM tutors and are assessed in the work place.

     
  • How is the training funded?
    •   Much of our training is funded by the government which means minimal or no cost to the employer or learner.

     
  • Is there a penalty for not completing?
    •   No, but don't forget that if you leave your course without qualifying then you will not be issued with your certificate.
